2025 Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellow

A huge congratulations to Fiona Samuel MNZM who has been named the 2025 Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellow recognising her outstanding contribution to New Zealand’s stage and screen.

Fiona is the screenwriter of feature film 'Pike River', which tells moving true story about the families who are still fighting for justice after the Pike River Mine disaster took the lives of 29 men. She is also the playwright behind 'Helen Clark in Six Outfits' which will make its world premiere on the ASB Waterfront Theatre stage in April 2026.

We couldn't be more proud of Fiona and it is an honour to represent her.

2025 Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Laureate

Our unstoppable Roseanne Liang has been announce as one of eight recipients of the 2025 Arts Foundation Te Tumu Toi Laureate.

Roseanne received the Dame Gaylene Preston Filmmaker Award, and the selection panel had this to say about Liang's impressive contribution already to New Zealand cinema:

“Roseanne’s fearless storytelling has placed kick-ass women at the centre of cinema, while championing equity and Asian voices on screen.”

Congratulations Roseanne! We are so proud of you.

Ice Road: Vengeance

Ice Road: Vengeance starring Liam Neeson and KRA's Monish Anand is now streaming on Prime!

We couldn't be more excited to see Monish in this 2025 American action thriller!

Pike River

Pike River had its World Premiere at the Sydney Film Festival last week at the 2,000 seat State Theatre.

Congratulations to the entire team on the completion of this meaningful film. In particular to the screenwriter, WIFT NZ member and KR Actor, Fiona Samuel. We know this monumental film took a long time to come to fruition and we couldn't be more proud of what you have accomplished.

And we can't forget to mention all the wonderful KR Actors who contributed their talents to this film; Ben Porter, Jonathon Hendry, Rachel Nash, Murray Keane, Kayleigh Haworth, Cian Parker & Patrick Kuhtze. Congratulations to you all!

The New Zealand premiere of Pike River is set to be held in Māwhera Greymouth in October, honouring the community at the heart of the story.
