Luke Bird (Ngāpuhi, Ngati Whatua, Te Uriroroi, Ngāti Ueoneone, Te Whānau a Apanui) is born and bred in Whangārei, New Zealand. Luke’s diversity, passion and flare for entertaining has seen him take on a variety of roles from the exuberant Widow Twankey in Aladdin to singing alongside Northland’s finest with Opera North. Luke has a strong interest in Theatre, Opera and Comedy. Luke's chirpy and witty sense of humour and infectious ways have seen him perform as a featured Opera soloist and with Opera sensations Ben Makisi, Lilia Carpinelli and Dame Malvina Major. Luke is vocally trained by Opera Diva Joan Kennaway QSM. He placed 3rd in two categories at the NZ Aria Comeptitions. He created and leads a group of comedians called "The Durty Gurls" who combine humour, singing and acting. Luke also holds a Degree of Maori Performing Arts. Luke flourishes on challenge and strives in all aspects of performing.
