Peter has been working in the television industry since 1961, within a year of CHTV3’s opening in Christchurch. In those early days one was called upon to try a hand in almost every department, giving a wide grounding in television production, and, in fact, on camera performance: ‘village pump’ news, charades. The major part of his career was spent directing TV drama, in NZ and Australia. He worked on most of the major dramas made by South Pacific Television, and the NZBC Drama Department. Not all his career was behind camera, he cameos as Father Christmas in Gaylene Preston comedy feature film Ruby and Rata, and appeared in one of Country Calendar's infamous spoofs as an ex-Queen Street hairdresser who has turned to sheep farming. As well as Hitchcock like appearances in many of his own productions, and voice-overs.
